Today has been a very eventful day at work. Or rather, un-eventful. Depending on how you see it.
Eventful: The whole office had to be evacuated at 09:30 due to a fire alert on a building site located close to the office building. All colleagues within the building stood at the fire assembly point, but then had to move further away. There was speculation of certain gas canister objects endangering the building site nearby. How true it is, has yet to be confirmed. By 11:00 the department dispersed, some scattered to a nearby cafe, some hung around. By 11:30 all staff were instructed to either work from home, or go home.
Un-eventful: No work can be carried out at the office, thus the company had been un-productive.
Tomorrow the DDA will have to travel to Basingstoke, where a separate web production team is based. Work will be carried out there as there are certain files which needs to be trafficked on the office network.
The DDA anticipates a hectic day at work tomorrow.

Near the Tipping Point
How do you deal with work when there is a bigger and wider problem boiling underneath the surface of the work that you are doing?
Do you:
a) find the source of the problem and attempt to solve it?
b) look for a new job so you don't have to worry because it's not supposed to be your problem?
Even if you know part of the source of the problem, how much more would you need to gather before you can help your manager come up with a solution?
What if your manager is very aware of the underlying problems but doesn't think flagging this problem to the departmental manager will make any significant change?
The DDA finds it exhaustive having to focus at being productive at work whilst pondering at the above questions. Any ideas?

悠闲时刻
Coke + Mentos = Fun?
Some scientists have had a lot of time on their hands. They have been playing with coke and mentos. They call it 'The Extreme Coke and Mentos Experiment'.
The result of the experiments they call it - 'mint-powered version of the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas'.
You have to see it for yourself to determine if it is that much fun.

Simple Bliss
2 things that cheered me up after a tedious long day at work this week:
- neighbour dog having its daily walk with its owner comes running up happily to say hi to me.
- neighbour baby having an evening walk with mummy, noticing my presence behind him, turns around and gave the most adorably innocent smile and turned around excitedly.

To round the day up, the Finn gave the DDA a surprise - home-cooked dinner complete with dessert. Grand!

Unexpected Guest
This evening the Finn and DDA had an unexpected guest. It is a very shy cat, with white fur around the collar and shiny black fur all around. Poor cat has to find a proper place to settle, so it decided to seek a few hours refuge at the Finn & DDA's flat.
Take care now little kitty... hope your problems will be solved.
